What is a Meet the Teacher Scavenger Hunt?

A meet the teacher scavenger hunt is an activity where students walk around the classroom looking for items and places that are important to know where they are in the classroom. For example, in the scavenger hunt, students are expected to find their seat, their cubby where they are going to store their backpack and coats, and book box.

This activity allows for students to familiarize themselves with their new classroom. You can use this activity during meet the teacher or on your first day of school. If you use this activity during meet the teacher, parents have a lot of fun helping their child search for the items as well.

The students have a lot of fun looking for the different things and places in the classroom. In this checklist, they will place a checkmark to mark they found it and can also color the picture.

The meet the teacher scavenger hunt is perfect for your kindergarten, first grade, or second grade classroom.

You can also find a different version that looks like a treasure map inside the Biliteracy Builders Membership.

Why Use the Meet the Teacher Scavenger Hunt?

Students are unfamiliar with their new classroom and this meet the teacher scavenger hunt is perfect for helping them make the classroom familiar and welcoming. They have a lot of fun and it sets the tone that they will be expected to do work when they come in the first day of school.

Plus, the last step inside the checklist is to take a picture with their family. I LOVE this step because I have a picture to look back on to remember who came to the meet the teacher event. It also helps with remembering my students parents and siblings. I print out a picture and send it home with the student the first week.

Try using this scavenger hunt during your meet the teacher event or first day of school!
